First Trust is a US financial services firm established in 1991 and focuses primarily on offering thematic, factor and smart beta ETFs globally. The firm manages over US$300bn of assets with about 2/3 in US listed ETFs.

The First Trust Nasdaq Clean Edge Smart Grid Infrastructure UCITS ETF is a passive index solution that tracks the Nasdaq OMX Clean Edge Smart Grid Infrastructure Exclusions Index using a full physical replication approach. The index is a modified free float market cap-weighted index is designed to act as a transparent and liquid benchmark for the smart grid and electric infrastructure sector, and includes companies that are primarily engaged and involved in electric grid, electric meters, devices and networks, energy storage and management, connected mobility, and enabling software used by the smart grid and electric infrastructure sector. Companies are screened for ESG exclusion using Systainalystics. The index allocates 80% to Pure Play companies that receive significant portion of revenue from the theme, and 20% to other Diversified companies. The ETF has ~110 holdings similar to the index.
